The Product
The “Rex” Disposable Talking Medication Bottle verbally identifies bottle contents and educates people about how to properly use their medication. Application of the bottle is not limited to persons who are visually impaired, but is also ideally suited for people with cognitive disorders, reading difficulties, and for those whose language differences can make accurate comprehension of medication instructions problematic.

How It Works
Microelectronic technology is embedded in the base of each bottle. A special bottle recorder microphone allows the user to record the medication use information directly into the bottle. The “built-in-the-bottle” technology permits only the user to record or change the prescription information. To playback the recorded information, users simply press a button on the side of the bottle and listen to the message.

Frequently Asked Questions
 Q. How is a message recorded in the bottle to make "Rex" talk?
A. You may ask your pharmacist to put your prescriptions in a talking bottle and he/she can record the instructions or you can buy your own recorder and bottles and record your own instructions or identifying messages.

Q. Can "Rex" be used in other ways as well?
A. Yes. MedivoxRx Technologies hopes to eventually make "Rex", and the recorder needed to give "Rex" his voice, available for other purposes. Consumers could then use the bottles for spices and other small items by having someone record what is stored inside the bottle.

Q. Can the Disposable Talking Bottle be refilled?
A. "Rex" was developed as a disposable bottle to avoid cross-contamination of medications. In some cases, however, an identical prescription might be refillable for a second allotment of a prescription, but the built-in battery's life span would be less reliable.

Q. How long will the Disposable Talking Bottle keep "talking"?
A. "Rex" is designed to play a complete message approximately 300 times. Under most circumstances, "Rex" will continue to "talk" for around six months.

Q. Are there places where "Rex" can't be used?
A. "Rex" can be placed in the refrigerator, however DO NOT place it in the freezer.

Q. How should the Disposable Talking Bottle be discarded?
A. It is safe to discard "Rex" with regular household trash.

Q. Why not make Braille labels for people who are visually or cognitively impaired?
A. Braille takes up too much space and would not fit within the size of the bottle. In addition, many people who are visually or cognitively or visually impaired don't read Braille.
